What kind of file do I need for screen printing?

For accuracy, we prefer an Adobe Illustrator vectored file with all text converted to outlines. You can save it in native format (.ai). No placed files.

We can use an Adobe Photoshop file for Full Color reproduction, or for printing gradients, tints, shadows and shading. File must be created in layers with the background color as the base layer.

What is Vectored Art?

Artwork which is vectored contains only bezier curves, a mathematical algorithm that allows us to infinitely enlarge the image without losing resolution.

I want a table cover printed. What do I need?

We require a vectored file for screen printing, and can accept a Photoshop file for full-color printing. Other files may require a set-up charge to make printable.

My file is a jpg or gif. Will this work?

A jpg or gif is not acceptable for enlarged printing, as it usually does not contain sufficient image information for accurate reproduction. The art department may be able to modify a jpg to print better, for an additional fee.

I don't understand the terms or words.

You don't have to. Send us the file you have, and we will evaluate it for you, free.

Yes, a 36" x 120" file is very large. Send by CD* or DVD* with a color printout,
so we know what it should look like. *NEW: Ask for an online "drop box" for large files.

Placed files Placed files are files which are not created in the program which is being sent for reproduction.

Example- a bmp file created in a "paint" program, which is imported into adobe illustrator or photoshop, is still a "bmp" file, which will not reproduce accurately or in high resolution.
Color Electronic files sent must be saved in CMYK. We do our best to faithfully reproduce the artwork as it is sent If you need a certain color match (a hue of blue to be close to a PMS color, as example) we need that information with your order, otherwise we set our printers to the exact CMYK provided. The customer is responsible for the color ultimately received if a specific reference (PMS number) is not provided as to matching colors, where applicable.
